August!!

My goal is to get caught up before the end of the year. I'm only almost 3 months behind.. No big deal. ha!

We started off the month with going to an Iowa Cubs game with my dad. We had front row seats which were right behind the Cubs dugout. We saw cubby bear a lot, Cam got a ball, Ben and I were on the jumbotron  and we ate lots of popcorn. Cameron also wanted to run the bases afterwards.

Fair time!! Bobbie came into town and we headed to the fair Saturday morning.. It was a torturous drive there - Jeremy likes to take University from 235, get in the right lane heading East.. and stay there.. It literally took us almost 2 hours to get from 235 exit to the fairgrounds parking lot. Next year, I'm driving!! But, we finally made it. the kids were rockstars considering we weren't going anywhere fast.

We have a must see, eat and do list. It consists of Little hands on the farm, baby animals, the butter cow, spin art, big yellow slide (min of 3 times), the big pig, big cow, ice cream from the dairy barn, pork producers for lunch (although bobbie and I always split a tenderloin from the bud tent and the kids get corn dogs) and hawkeye football posters from the varied industries building. We try to be efficient, but it doesn't always work out.  This year, the line for the Little hands on the farm was too long, so we decided since we have enough hats, we could skip it this year.

Our group at one point, had 19 people. It was a bit much to coordinate, so we did the spin art and giant slide and split off.

How we rolled this year.. The wagon comes complete with cup holders - it worked great, until you have to go up or down curbs.

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY, CAMERON!!

Where has the time gone - Can he really be 4? Cams birthday was on a Monday, but we celebrated several times throughout the week.  We started with donuts from Hy-Vee and picking out his "cake." Cameron doesn't like cake or ice cream(who's kid is he?) but he likes cookies.  So thats just what we got -  a cookie cake.

Cameron requested long socks and underwear for his birthday. Turns out long sock for his size of feet are nearly impossible to find. I did find a handful of pairs at TJMaxx.

So this is Cameron's 2nd scooter. The first one, we think, got picked up when it was clean up days. We're guessing he left it out and some scavengers picked it up, thinking it was trash. :( Cam was pretty excited to get a scooter. Especially since his bike was ran over in July.

We headed to Target so Cam could spend his birthday money.

This is what he bought with his own money. Prepare to see lots of pictures of Cameron wearing this. He LOVES it and wears it every.single.day!

We met up with Emily, Ricky and Nancy at Pizza Ranch for more birthday fun.

We met up with Carrie, Stella, Kristy and Betsy for a picnic and play time at Union Park - Home of the rocket slide and Heritage Carousel.

The slide is pretty fast..

Cam flew off the end and got hurt.

Ben was terrified of getting on the carousel.

Stella loved pushing Ben.

I didn't realize this park had a little wading pool. We happened to bring extra clothes because it had rained pretty good the night before and we thought things would be wet and muddy. Turns out, we needed the clothes for the wading pool.

Betty was the only one that went along with a group picture.
Jeremy and I headed to the last Sunday of the fair. It's like our little fair date every year. We also get to take our time looking at things like the photography stuff. We try to get there super early before it gets busy. We also took a different way this time, which was MUCH quicker.

Must eat - Cresenti for breakfast!

Jeremy got a jalapeño corn dog.. EWW!

We split one of the new foods - the pride
of Iowa wrap. I can't remember whats
in it, but it was good.

and we brought home a bucket of cookies
They had this magazine cover thing in the DNR building - Lots of props to choose from, and Jeremy picks a duck!

Back to school night - The night before school starts, all the kids can go drop off their supplies, meet their teacher and get familiar with where their classroom is. Quentin loves school and was SO excited. Even more exciting that he gets a locker this year. Hopefully his excitement lasts all school year long.

It was also back to school night for Cameron, but he just wanted to drop off his stuff and get out of there. His room was a bit overwhelming with all the people. There is lots of things to sign up for in his room like all the parties, conferences and home visits they do. Needless to say, I got no pictures. Mrs Angie, his teacher, tried to get Cam's picture, but he wasn't having it.

First Day of School for Quentin!

He wanted a goofy pic

Quentin chooses to ride the bus on the first day.

One of my friends is a teacher at Quentin's school. She keeps an eye on him for me, and sends me pics of him at school every once in awhile.

Apparently, Quentin had so much fun, he didn't want to come home. He missed his stop getting off the bus. He wasn't alone though. One of the neighbor kids also didn't get off. The bus driver brought them back at the end of the route.

That weekend, I headed to Iowa City with a couple friends for the first ever concert at Kinnick Stadium - The Backporch Revival. It was put on Ashton Kutcher an Dallas Clark. It was a ton of fun. I'm already looking forward to next year.

There was a girl in front of us with a selfie stick, and I'm not exaggerating when I say she took at least 250 pictures.. And, Jeremy says I take a lot of pictures. ha! I was photo bombing them, trying to show her how ridiculous she was being, but she wasn't getting it. She did get my phone # and sent me a few though.

Thats her forehead in the bottom.

We had great seats and even saw Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis leaving the side stage.

We headed to mom and dads for Mom and Julian's birthday dinner on Sunday. Julian was born the same year Jeremy and I got married.. so he's 11 this year and almost as tall as me, which just blows my mind. We won't talk about mom's age. :)

Cameron's turn - First day of 4yr Preschool - He was so excited, but he didn't want to show it. He goes to the afternoon class, so we got to hang out all morning. We got the oil changed in my van, and thats when I realized I forgot my wallet at work the day before. So we made a pit stop to pick that up before we headed to get my haircut. Cam also got his hair spiked.

This is my messy desk

After haircut and style, we raced home, changed clothes and made it to school.

Cam with his friend Benson

They let us walk him into his room on the first day.

Other pictures from the month...

I love the sunflowers I planted in my garden this year

Quentin has seen me do my workout in the basement a few times, and tries to get the neighbor boys to do it with him. They get a kick out of it.

Quentin and Cameron were shooting nerf bow and arrows in the house. They got one stuck on top of the closet. I came around the corner to find Quentin, stacking stuff on top of things to try and reach it. He was going for more couch cushions and books next.

Snapchat fun - In case you were wondering, this is what I'll look like when I'm old. haha.

Last but not least, our newest family photo!
