Quentin Goes to Kindergarten!

Today's the day. Quentin was SO excited this morning, although he does pretty good containing it. I prepared him last night by telling him I was going to take lots of pictures this morning. His only concern was that he'd still be able to ride the bus. He also wanted to take his lunch instead of eating the school lunch. He wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, string cheese, applesauce, carrots and some grapes.

We almost missed the bus because I wasn't paying attention to time. So we had run to the bus stop fast. The bus driver waited and I Quentin didn't even look back at me to tell me bye. :(

Cameron thought he was going to pre-school today as well, but that doesn't start for another week. He was pretty sad that he didn't get to ride the bus too, but he was all ready.

I left work a little early to make it home in time to meet the bus.

He said he had a great day, his teacher is "SOOOO NICE" and wants to go back again tomorrow.

Weekend fun!

So, I'm starting current, and will work my way backwards until I'm caught up.

Last Thursday was Meet the Teacher night at school. The kids get to meet their teachers, drop off supplies and check out the rooms they'll be in for the school year. Quentin said he was excited and a little nervous.

Since Cam will start 3yr pre-school at the school, he also had to drop off his supplies, meet his teacher and familiarize himself with his room. He's pretty excited for pre-school, although he got really shy and quiet when his Teacher, Miss Maggie, tried to talk to him.

He wanted to use Quentin's old backpack
instead of getting a new one - No arguments
here!
Afterwards, Quentin said he wasn't nervous at all and that he's very excited to go to Kindergarten. Cameron didn't have much of an opinion, just shook his head yes to whatever question you asked him.

I'm terrible at checking our mail. I get it about 2 times per week, one of those days being Friday's. Camerons birthday was on the 15th. He usually walks to get the mail with me and was so excited when he had an envelope in there for him. We ran home and he ripped it open.

Thank you grandma GG - Cam was SO excited!
He wants to buy a sword.
We headed back to the school on Friday afternoon for a little playground fun. The school has 3 playgrounds, all are different and pretty cool. The kids loved it, and I loved not having to get wood chips out of schools.

Cameron taught Ben to go up backwards. :/

Cam also taught Quentin to go down head first.

Saturday morning Ben was up early, like 6a.m.. so what do you do.. you go on a walk. Ben LOVES the stroller and we made it almost 3 miles.

When we got back home, Jeremy was still snoring in bed and Q and Cam's bedroom door was closed, so I assumed they were both still asleep as well. Ben and I went downstairs to play, and I found Cameron awake, laying on a big pillow with his blankets. Kind of freaked me out. I have no idea what time he got up.

He fell asleep at dinner, so I'm guessing he was up not much longer after Ben and I left for our walk. He's also trying to transition into no naps, since he'll be going to afternoon pre-school.

Jeremy built some shelves in the garage on Saturday. So far, they haven't gained us much room. The things that take up the space - the kids toys - don't really fit on the shelves.

Sunday morning - Jeremy and I headed to the fair. It was nice to get to walk around without a kid and just be able to go down stairs, walk wherever we wanted, and not have to worry about a stroller or wagon. Although, when we got a drink, I was missing that stroller to put it in. We started the morning early, arriving at 9.. and eating our way through. First stop for me was Crescentis - coppocola was so good. I was tempted to get the bacon, egg and cheese one, but had to stick to the traditional one.

Crescenti's - fried bread sandwich
At the rib shack, which I've never even noticed before, was the favorite new food - and it was called something like the ultimate bacon wrapped brisket bomb.. or something along those lines. Jeremy wanted to try it. I had it a bite. It wasn't bad, had a bit of a kick to it. We also got the brisket mac and cheese, and I hated the noodles they used, but the flavor was pretty good.

On our way out, we had to stop and get some ice cream from the dairy barn - by far the best ice cream there.

I also had a pork chop on a stick. There is a Iowa State Fair food app and some items had nutritional information. I figured out that I ate 1500 calories in 4 hours.. kind of sickening to think about. Huge Thanks to Grandma Nancy for watching the kids while Jeremy and I did our "fair date."

We didn't do much the rest of the afternoon.. Monday - Today -  is the first day of school. So it was showers/baths and early bed night for everyone.

I'll leave you with our newest family picture - I was shocked that everyone was at least looking at the camera. It only took 2 tries to get it (it's usually 7 or 8 to get a half way decent one).

A True Day in the Life of the Turners....

Yesterday was one of those days I found myself shaking my head wondering what in the world did I get myself into.

In a nut shell..

Cam is potty training - he stood on the seat of the toilet, peed ON it and the wall behind it. Another time, he peed on the floor and a third time, in a bucket of lego's.
Ben is starting to take a few steps, but is too tired at night and only wants to be held, or quickly falls, and is beyond mad.
Quentin is the proud owner of a fart machine and says, 'it's just what I always wanted."

On top of all that - Jeremy worked late.. Too late to even help with bedtime.

This picture was taken a couple days later.. but I think it still sums up the night.
