Making Progress

Okay - So I know I haven't been very diligent with the posts, so I promise to try and do better.

This is actually from 2 weekends ago and I had it all done, except the video towards the bottom. And, I had to have that in there.  I'll work on this past weekends fun this week.

We've been busy, busy, busy around here, and are making great progress on multiple things. Jeremy has been busy mostly outside, while I've been busy inside. In the last couple of weeks, shelves in the garage have been hung, a much needed fridge put in the garage, outdoor lighting in front, car seat ready, rearrangement of dishes in cupboards to make room for bottles, clothes for herky washed, folded and finally put away, and the list goes on.  Needless to say, Jeremy and I are a little tired. And, I have to give him credit for doing most of it.

We have managed to have some fun though.

Saturday we drove to Lenox, IA for a 35th annual reunion. I remember going to this reunion when we were younger, but hadn't gone for a few years. Q had a ton of fun chasing a balloon. We played at the park for about 3 minutes, but everything was too hot to even touch.

The one shaded slide.

Sunday morning, we met up with Saran, Lena, Carrie and Stella for a little photo shoot we'd planned and a picnic lunch. It was a ton of fun and I loved watching the kids interact. It was a ton of work as well with all the props, outfit changes and just trying to get them to smile. They were all so interested in just playing and not paying any attention to a camera. We still managed to get some good pictures though.

We tried to do some pictures with balloons. Q had one of the balloons popped before we had to a chance to take one picture. Lena walked off stage, Q wasn't sure what to think of that. But, don't worry, Stella is still smiling.

First time walking on sand - if you can
call it that.

I think Q's favorite part was the sand and water. My favorite part was the picnic. All the kiddo's did great eating.

Monday night we went to Olive Garden for Nancy's birthday dinner. While there are only a couple things on the menu I'll actually eat, it's still one of my favorite restaurants. Q started to sing happy birthday to her, but quickly stopped when people started looking at him. We did manage to get it on video a day later though. Happy Birthday Nancy!

Coloring Grandma's gift!

Other fun - The heat has not kept us, or the neighbor kids from playing outside. We some how manage to spend at least an hour every night. Lately, it's been spent with the sprinkler on.

Just Hanging Out!!

We've kept busy around town the last couple weeks. Mostly playing outside. I learned today that Quentin thinks mommy is carrying a girl baby and daycare has warned me that he likes to swing the babies VERY fast. So, it will be interesting to see how he reacts once Herky is here.

I had a doctors appointment today - all is well, as I expected. The doctor did check to see if he could feel how the baby was positioned, but couldn't tell. I'll go back again next week and see where we stand then. I feel good, and thankfully the heat hasn't really bothered me. If anything, it's forced me to drink more water, which is never a bad thing. It is getting more difficult to do dishes and reach the knobs on the washing machine, but I manage. Jeremy is always there to laugh at/with me and to help. He also does most of the reading with Q before bed, as it's hard for Q to stay on my lap.

Now, on with the pictures from the last couple weeks.

Forth of July - we were invited to the neighbors for a neighborhood gathering. We had a great time and it was fun getting to know some of the them better. Q, of course, had a blast playing with all the kids and the water.

Q obviously loved the popsicle.

about half the kids in the neighborhood.

This is Afton. She says the most hilarious things and makes
goofy faces. I think Q is starting to pick up on a few of them
as well.

The adults had fun as well - They made a slip-n-slide with some tarps and dish soap. Obviously I did not go down, but most everyone else did. Jeremy also opted to be a spectator, which I think was a wise choice after seeing some of the scraps and cuts on others.

Happy Birthday Dad/Grandpa! We are very fortunate to have you in our lives and can't thank you enough for all you do for us. So, for those that don't know, Forth of July also happens to be my dads birthday - Jeremy golfed with him earlier in the day. We went to my grandma's on Sunday for dinner. As always she made a wonderful dinner and Q had corn on the cob for the first time.

Grandpa with the grandkids. Minus Peyton - she ran when
the camera came out.
We also celebrated Annette's Birthday on Sunday at Grandma's.
One of my favorite pics!

More pictures from the past couple weeks:

Q continues to love reading and often goes into his room
and reads out loud.

A sprinkler GG gave him for his birthday - he wasn't sure
about it, so convinced Daddy to run through it with him.

Jeremy can be so creative with the neotrax.

Happy Golden Birthday, Quentin! Part 2

Have I mentioned before how fast time goes by? It went by fast before Quentin, but seems to be going even faster now. We had his 2 year appointment earlier this week and it went great, despite the finger prick.

At two years old, Quentin is very busy.
- He weighs 25.8 pounds (20%) and is 34.75 inches tall (69%)
- Talks in sentences - his most recent sentence was, "I want to see the doctor"
- Constantly saying new words and repeating them until he gets it right. Of course, there are still a lot words he cannot say, like his own name. (Maybe we should have thought about that when we named him)
- Mastering using eating utensils and drinks out of a cup.
- Voluntarily sits on the big boy potty all the time. Although has yet to go.
- Sings songs - his favorite is "HAPPY YOU!!" (Happy Birthday to you) The other day it was "Happy You MOMMY!!" and yes, he sings it very loud.
- Knows his birthday and how old he is. He can't quite get the 2 fingers with one hand, so uses both hands holding 1 finger each
- Continues to LOVE being outside.
- Loves helping with chores. Feeding Frodo and watering the flowers are his chores.
- Continues to love to read books. (Thanks grandma Nancy for Q's small library).
- Favorite foods are fruit, applesauce, cottage cheese, corn, broccoli, and tuna.
- Is getting braver and braver the older he gets. Climbing on things that aren't meant to be climbed on and showing interest in things he never has before, like outlets.
- Likes wearing his helmet and hats (which we are very thankful for)
- Favorite colors are Pink (thanks to Dylan) and blue. Can also identify colors. If you ask where the Yellow block is, he'll show you.
- Likes looking at pictures and identifying who the people are.

And, now for some pictures. Quentin through the last 12 months!
