Happy Memorial Day!!

First off, we hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend. Thank you to all our veterans and active duty military! We are so grateful for your service and sacrifice.

We had a fun weekend of getting together with friends and family. Frodo also got to meet his new four legged cousin, Stanzi. Quentin loved watching the dogs chase each other.

On Sunday, we met up with Saran, Brian and Lena for some Olive Garden. The kids loved it. Q was a mess, as was the floor. Makes me thankful for Frodo. :) On Monday, met  up with the grandparents for Jethro's BBQ. Quentin loved the macaroni and cheese and corn bread muffin. He also liked both grandmas getting to play the "lets see how many times grandma will pick up the items I intentionally drop" game.

The car ride home for Brian might have been a little awkward.
Hopefully he was able to get the backpack off.

Stanzi - the super dog!

Frodo was worn out all day from Stanzi chasing him yesterday.
Poor Frodo just isn't as fast as he used to be either, Stanzi
caught him several times.

Q loves playing with his blocks.

Best Friends...

Wherever Quentin is, Frodo is not far behind. This is the way it's been since day one.  Now that Q is almost a year old and crawling, they are closer than ever.   It's been so fun watching them grow and play together.  And, I love that Quentin thinks Frodo is so hilarious... He laughs at my singing, but not like he laughs at Frodo.

We are very lucky that Frodo has adapted to Q and is so patient with him. Although Julian has been tormenting Frodo since the day we got him and hasn't bitten him yet, so we had a feeling all would go well when Q came along.  Hopefully as they both get older, they'll continue to have fun and become even closer.
Q loves getting Frodo excited and riled up. He's figured out that Frodo loves socks, and will take his off and tease him with it. Frodo does the same thing. If he sees a sock laying around, he'll take it to Q to try and get him to grab it and chase him.

Weekend Fun

We love the weekends around here. Then again, who doesn't? We started off the weekend with paying off my car. That alone makes the weekend even sweeter.

Saturday, we headed to the Waukee YMCA for a little dip in the pool with the Davis clan. Q liked the water a little more this time, than last. And even wanted to go off on his own a couple times. He still hung on pretty tight most of the time though. I'll update with pics when Saran sends them to me (I'm still on the hunt for a little camera, although I think I found one today at Costco). After swimming, we headed to Brian and Saran's for dinner. Saran went shopping at Trader Joe's and we sampled all kinds of good stuff. We made it an early night since Q was a little cranky.

Sunday we hung around at home. Grandma Nancy stopped by for a little bit, as did Aunt Nanna. Grandma Nancy brought Q some books, which he loves. We had to read each one before he went to bed.

Okay now that Nanna is here.

As you can see, Q's nose is getting much better, as are his ears. It's amazing how fast these kind of things heal. He's been a little cranky the last couple days and has been running a very low fever of about 99.8. I think it got to 100 once. I'm hoping it's just teething, but will call the dr. if it continues. I have a feeling our sleeping through the night nights, may be over for awhile. Crossing my fingers though.

Of course his nose looks the worse, now that it's healing.
Eating his new favorite food - Cottage cheese
9 days after "the incident," I finally feel I can take him
out in public again.

Happy Mothers Day!!

Sunday was my first official Mothers Day. We had a little celebration last year before Q was born. But, of course it wasn't as special as this one. Jeremy, Q and even Frodo gave me the sweetest cards. I'm getting a new little point and shoot camera as soon as I find one I like. (If you have one you'd like to recommend, please do). We shopped around for one on Sat. but came up empty. Apparently, I'm picky with how fast the camera needs to be. But, with a 10 month old, speed is definitely a requirement.

We spent the afternoon at my parents house with my mother in law, grandma GG, and immediate family, feasting on ribs. They were DELICIOUS(Thanks Dad)! Mom also made us play a few games from Minute To Win It. It was actually pretty fun, and funny. Q tried cake for the first time and LOVE it. He also ate cheesy potatoes like it was nobody's business. It was great.

Q's nose is looking a little better.

Q lovin white cake.

Quentin's first Haircut

Jeremy has been itching to cut Q's hair for quite some time.  It had gotten pretty long and was starting to hang in his eyes. With Q only being 10 months, and interested in everything people are doing we thought we should take him somewhere that specializes in kids. So, we made an appointment at Lollipop's haircuts for kids.

Pam, the stylist,  did a good job with what she had to work with. Q didn't sit still at all, and kept trying to grab the comb and scissors. He even tried to crawl out of his seat at one point. They gave us a certificate with our picture on it and a little envelope with all his hair they cut.

I'm thinking this may be the style he goes for when he's older

Finally home to eat lunch
Today is also Aunt Nanna's (Dianna's) birthday. So Happy 29th Birthday to her.. Next year is a big one, and we'll have to celebrate in a big way. Q has been saying "Nanna" all morning.

Good news and Bad news..

I always give and like to hear bad news first. Then it's forgotten about when you hear the good news.

Q spiked a little bit of a fever yesterday at daycare. We gave him tylenol and it went down. Grandma Nancy was over to watch him since Jeremy and I already had plans. She took good care of him and put to bed. He woke this morning at 5a.m. and his whole body was hot. We took his temp again, and it was 101.1. So I decided to stay home with him today. He didn't appear to be in too bad of a mood, although did want to be held a lot and would crawl to me and say "mama, mama." Of course it was super cute.

Jeremy left for work, and Q was crawling around a little, and tried pulling himself up on the end table, which weighs less than he does. Sure enough, he pulled the end table down on him and it hit his nose. He has quite the bruise from it, and I'm sure it hurts. It did start bleeding, and once I got him calmed down he was fine. But, I decided to call the doctor and make an appointment anyway. Especially since he was running a fever.

By the time we got to the doctors office, Q's nose was really starting to show the bruise. He looked like I beat him up. Luckily they didn't call child protective services on me. And of course while we were there, I had them check his ears, I thought maybe with him wanting to be held, the fever might have been more than just a teething fever. And, sure enough, double ear infection. We got our script, and off to Walgreens we went.

We needed to get dog bones while we were there too, so picked them up on the way back to the pharmacy.. and was told it would be another 15 minutes.. Seriously?? So we strolled around Walgreens. While I was looking at some bubble thing, Q spotted a ball and lunged for it. It's nice and pink, and has the alphabet and numbers on it. So we decided to buy it. Finally our script is done, and Q fell asleep in my arms. The pharmacist felt so bad about making us wait, and since the ball didn't have a price on it, she gave it to Q as his reward for being so good. It was super nice of her, and made the 15 minute wait a little easier.

We're home now, and Q is resting. the bruise on his nose is getting worse. The doctor said it may get darker and show under his eyes. Poor guy.
This was Q after I finally got him settled down. He screamed
every time I tried to wipe his nose.
You can kind of see his bruised nose in this pic.

Q likes sharing his balls with Frodo. Frodo really wanted this ball
too, but I made him "leave it"
It must have been the day for accidents in my family. KaVon cut his finger this morning while trying to make his breakfast. So, Annette had to take him to Urgent Care. They don't usually use glue on fingers apparently, but KaVon talked the nurses into using glue, seri strips and bandages. Hopefully that will do the trick and stitches won't be needed.

So, now onto the good news.

Q was famous yesterday.. well kind of. As we were watching the news yesterday morning, Q's picture came up on the screen. He was featured as the "cute kid" of the day. KCCI has a cute kid contest and there is a winner every month. Q didn't win, they just showed his picture. Of course there is still a chance he could win, but we'd have to give the winnings back, since the prize is $250 in your 529 plan. And since my mom works for the treasure dept. at the State, we are automatically disqualified. But, it was still fun seeing his picture on tv.
This is the picture they showed. They did crop it to only
show his face.
The other good news: Julian is also famous once again. Last year he filmed a commercial for College Savings Iowa, promoting the 529 plans. They showed it on a few tv stations and even on a couple radio stations last year. They are once again airing the same commercial for awhile again right now. So watch for it. Here are a few pictures from him filming it last year. I'm so jealous he got to meet Bryan Karrick.

Q's top 10 at 10..

So Q turns 10 months old today. Where has the time gone? I was looking through some old pictures of him and it's amazing how much a child can change in such little time.

So, here's the list of Q's top 10: In no particular order.

10. Loves pulling himself up on everything and has gone up a couple stairs on several occasions.
9. Expanding his foods daily. He's currently loving cottage cheese, cheese, and crackers.
8. Loves going on walks and being outside.
7. Currently has 2 teeth on bottom, and looks like another one might be breaking through soon.
6. Now says mamma and dada. Which is super cute. He also watches our mouths very closely.
5. As of Friday, he is sleeping through the night, going to bed between 8-8:30 and waking at 7.
4. Is taking steps with his walker or while holding your hands.
3. Loves to turn on his mobile and play in his crib for several minutes in the morning before letting us know he is awake.
2. Has started shouting and fake coughing while watching us to see what kind of reaction he gets.
1. He has given us 10 months of awesome!!!

Quentin loves torturing Frodo by pouncing on him when Frodo is laying down. He also likes to grab his tail and paws. Frodo, so far, has been a pretty good sport and usually just walks away.

Tug of war is hilarious
Of course Q LOVES pasta

Q likes to pull the ball popper down and let the air blow on
his face. He also likes to just turn it on to get the balls.

The hair after bath is a little crazy.

Playing air plane before bed time.
