I always give and like to hear bad news first. Then it's forgotten about when you hear the good news.
Q spiked a little bit of a fever yesterday at daycare. We gave him tylenol and it went down. Grandma Nancy was over to watch him since Jeremy and I already had plans. She took good care of him and put to bed. He woke this morning at 5a.m. and his whole body was hot. We took his temp again, and it was 101.1. So I decided to stay home with him today. He didn't appear to be in too bad of a mood, although did want to be held a lot and would crawl to me and say "mama, mama." Of course it was super cute.
Jeremy left for work, and Q was crawling around a little, and tried pulling himself up on the end table, which weighs less than he does. Sure enough, he pulled the end table down on him and it hit his nose. He has quite the bruise from it, and I'm sure it hurts. It did start bleeding, and once I got him calmed down he was fine. But, I decided to call the doctor and make an appointment anyway. Especially since he was running a fever.
By the time we got to the doctors office, Q's nose was really starting to show the bruise. He looked like I beat him up. Luckily they didn't call child protective services on me. And of course while we were there, I had them check his ears, I thought maybe with him wanting to be held, the fever might have been more than just a teething fever. And, sure enough, double ear infection. We got our script, and off to Walgreens we went.
We needed to get dog bones while we were there too, so picked them up on the way back to the pharmacy.. and was told it would be another 15 minutes.. Seriously?? So we strolled around Walgreens. While I was looking at some bubble thing, Q spotted a ball and lunged for it. It's nice and pink, and has the alphabet and numbers on it. So we decided to buy it. Finally our script is done, and Q fell asleep in my arms. The pharmacist felt so bad about making us wait, and since the ball didn't have a price on it, she gave it to Q as his reward for being so good. It was super nice of her, and made the 15 minute wait a little easier.
We're home now, and Q is resting. the bruise on his nose is getting worse. The doctor said it may get darker and show under his eyes. Poor guy.

This was Q after I finally got him settled down. He screamed
every time I tried to wipe his nose. |

| You can kind of see his bruised nose in this pic. |

Q likes sharing his balls with Frodo. Frodo really wanted this ball
too, but I made him "leave it" |
It must have been the day for accidents in my family. KaVon cut his finger this morning while trying to make his breakfast. So, Annette had to take him to Urgent Care. They don't usually use glue on fingers apparently, but KaVon talked the nurses into using glue, seri strips and bandages. Hopefully that will do the trick and stitches won't be needed.
So, now onto the good news.
Q was famous yesterday.. well kind of. As we were watching the news yesterday morning, Q's picture came up on the screen. He was featured as the "cute kid" of the day. KCCI has a cute kid contest and there is a winner every month. Q didn't win, they just showed his picture. Of course there is still a chance he could win, but we'd have to give the winnings back, since the prize is $250 in your 529 plan. And since my mom works for the treasure dept. at the State, we are automatically disqualified. But, it was still fun seeing his picture on tv.

This is the picture they showed. They did crop it to only
show his face. |
The other good news: Julian is also famous once again. Last year he filmed a commercial for College Savings Iowa, promoting the 529 plans. They showed it on a few tv stations and even on a couple radio stations last year. They are once again airing the same commercial for awhile again right now. So watch for it. Here are a few pictures from him filming it last year. I'm so jealous he got to meet Bryan Karrick.
