Weekend Recap - Full of exciting fun!

Another fun fill weekend here and gone.

On Wednesday our neighbor Lee, brought over their new addition - Dexter the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. and he is ADORABLE!! He was SO soft and cuddly. If they would stay puppies forever, I'd have ten.

He's SO CUTE!! Q was a little hesitant at first, but eventually
agreed to pet Dexter.
Saturday morning we headed out bright and early to catch Julian's basketball game. He played great and has greatly improved from last year. We hope to make it to a couple more games. Quentin did great for awhile. He was very interested in all the balls. He got a little restless after awhile and wanted to go out on the court.. so Grandpa and Q went and found a room full of toys.

After the basketball game, we headed to the Lincoln Pancake breakfast. It was neat to see how the school looks now, which is a lot different from when I went to school there and even more different from when my parents went there. Quentin loved running down the halls and looking out all the windows. And of course, eating my pancakes.

We had a little time at home, before we headed out again. Q wasn't having an afternoon nap since he napped on our way to and from everywhere else we'd been that morning.

Q's future is so bright - he has to wear
shades.

How do you argue with a kid who would rather read than
nap?
Late Saturday afternoon we met up with Brian, Saran and Lena for a play date at Monkey Joes jump house. Quentin was not having anything to do with the jump houses. I even went in with him, and he wasn't happy at all, so we didn't last very long there. Instead, we headed to the mall, and were going to play in the kids play area, until we saw how many kids were already there. I think we would have lost Q and Lena if we let them in. Instead, we walked around the mall. We didn't bring a stroller with us, as we weren't planning to need one. Q did great walking and some running (luckily the mall wasn't busy at all).

Q and Lena by the fountain at Valley West Mall
They were so cute together and loved the fountain.

At Monkey Joes - they had a little
arcade area.

And a little play area, but it didn't consist of many toys.
This morning, we let Daddy sleep in while Q and I made blueberry muffins. Q was so good, he played with some bottle caps and just monitored me.

We ate our muffins and then the exciting part of the day came - We finally told our parents a secret we've been holding onto for about 8 weeks or so.

We are due August 18th and as you can see from the picture above, we are beyond excited. Q doesn't really quite understand what it means, but I'm sure he will in time.

Special thoughts and prayers for my Uncle Al - We hope he gets well soon.

Happy Weekend Review!!

We had a pretty low key weekend. The biggest and most exciting part was Bobbie and I hosting a shower for our friend Sarah, who is having twin boys.

We had it at my house, and it turned out great.

Bobbie did amazing on the diaper cakes!

Thanks so much to Herb for baking the cupcakes. These
turned out better than I expected. (I was leery with the
cotton candy.)

Me, Sarah and Bobbie.
Quentin also thought the cupcakes were amazing and
wasn't going to leave a crumb behind.
Dylan arrived towards the end of the shower and Stella stayed for a little bit as well. The kiddos had fun playing in the basement.

D and Q racing down the stairs.. It looks like Q is winning,
but the minute D heard "race," he was gone.

I love this picture of Stella. She's always so happy.
We relaxed the rest of the weekend and enjoyed not leaving the house.

Sunday night is bath night and have I mentioned that Q LOVES baths.

Fun Foto Friday - Happy 18 months Quentin

So this is a little more than just a photo, but I'm slackin' lately so I'm combing a couple posts.

Quentin turned 18 months on the 2nd. Yes, I realize that was almost 3 weeks ago. But we didn't get into the doctor until the 12th and I didn't want to update until we'd been to the doctor. This appointment also served as a follow up from him being sick the week before. So, it turned out to be perfect timing. He's recovered from everything and Dr. Schutte said if she didn't know he had been sick a week ago, she'd never would have guessed it after doing his exam.

As Dr. Schutte was asking us about Q's skills, she just said, "does he jump?" and immediately, Q started jumping and continued to jump almost the entire time, which Dr. Schutte got a kick out of. He weighed in on the stand up scale (which he loved) at 23 pounds 9 ounces (19%) and is 33.5 inches tall (80%). His poor head is still on the small side (13%), but keeping right on track with his growth, so no worries there. All that means to me, is that we don't have to buy as many hats. And, he still has his heterochromia, which is perfectly fine and requires no follow ups. All in all he's doing great and Dr. Schutte gushed at how cute and happy he is.

On to the photo's -

Jumping is soo much fun!

The kid LOVES books!

And, he likes reading them to grumpy
smurf.

The drums and bus have been added to our nightly routine -
brush teeth, get in pj's, play the drums, and drive the bus up
and down the entry way.

At his 18th month appointment.

one of his absolute favorite books - Barn Yard Dance

he really likes his Elmo pj's too.

We've learned to not lay down, unless we want to be tackled.

This stage has been so much fun. It's so nice for him to ask for what he wants, and say "no" or "yes" if you ask him something. I'm amazed he actually knows what those words means and uses them appropriately. We've also learned to not ask questions like, "do you want to go night night?" That answer is always "NO!" Although never the answer we're looking for.

Currently Q's favorite foods are cheese, green beans, corn and crackers. Banana's have been put on the back burner, but he will still request one every other day.

We have a busy weekend ahead and I promise to update again very soon!

Happy New Year!!

I'll get to New Years in a few minutes.. because I have to post pictures of Stella and Q.. They're too cute to not post and because I like to go in chronological order.

We went to hang out with Carrie and Stella on Friday. Stella got Q a book with pop out animals, which is now the first book he brings us when we read before bed. Q also loved playing with all of Stella's toys. Stella is getting so big and making her way to wherever she wants.

Happy New Years!! 2011 was a great year with so many happenings... We sold our townhouse and bought a house, we paid off my car and Dianna got married, which gave us a brother-in-law and a niece. We're looking forward to 2012 and what it brings us.

Saturday night,  Brian, Saran and Lena came over to play. Lena and Q are so funny watch play together.
Open your present, Lena!

Lena wanted to sit on Q for the picture, but, Q wasn't a fan

Monday afternoon, Q came down with a cold. He wasn't eating much, and overall didn't appear to be feeling well. He had a little bit of a fever and was pulling at his ear quite a bit. So we made it through the night and headed to the walk-in clinic on Tuesday morning.

After being diagnosed with Bronchiolitis and an ear infection, we were sent on our way with a nebulizer machine and an antibiotic. He's now feeling better and his appetite is back.. a little.
