Happy Golden Birthday, Quentin! Part 1

We can't believe how fast the last 2 years have flown by. We celebrated Quentin's 2nd birthday on Saturday. It was a ton of fun. Thanks to everyone who came. And special thanks to my mom for making Quentin's shirt and Nancy for cleaning/organizing our entire basement. It looks SOO much better.

We have Quentin's 2 year check up this afternoon, so will do part 2 later.

We started Quentin's birthday festivities on Thursday night. We came home to a package on the door from Dylan. Quentin was very excited, but patiently waited until after dinner to open it. Jeremy was equally excited as he already knew what it was, when he saw who it was from.

Quentin (and Jeremy) played with the NeoTrax in KC at Bobbie's parents house. So, we already knew they'd be a huge hit.

Q and daddy playing with the NeoTrax

Q did not want to take a bath, play with the neighbor kids, or go to bed Thursday night.  He just wanted to play with the NeoTrax.  The picture above was actually taken Friday morning.  He got up first thing and wanted to play with it some more.

Friday night, we met up with Brian and Lena at the Jordan Creek play area. There were tons of kids there, which was a little intimidating for Lena...not so much for Q. He jumped right in after observing for a few minutes and was running and jumping around.

Not staged at all... /sarcasm font

Saturday - the big day! Quentin and I played inside, while Jeremy played (Jeremy calls it work) outside. We didn't really do a theme as Q constantly changes what he likes and it can get a little crazy with the decorations that a 2yr old just doesn't care about.

Jeremy "working" in the back yard.
Q started playing right after nap. Lena and Stella shortly joined him.

Quentin took it upon himself to start gift opening time.

Trying on new clothes.

After awhile, Julian had to help, as Q just wanted to play
with all his new toys.
Time for CAKE!!! We chose to get a costco cake, even though we knew it would be more than we'd need. But, for the price, and the flavor, it's well worth it. They do limit you with design, but since we were themeless anyway, it didn't matter.

Q tried to put the candle out with his fingers, instead of
blowing. Luckily the crying only last a couple minutes
and he was ready to eat cake!

More play time. The kiddos had a ton of fun playing in the water.

Stella and Q playing peek-a-boo

Annette really got Q laughing with chips, of all things. And, now if you ask him, "are you eating a chip?" he says, "yes," and cheeses really big, even if he isn't eating one.

I actually made the banner in the background.

Sunday was a free day. I intentionally didn't plan anything because I knew Q (and Jeremy) would want to play with all his new toys.

Grandma Nancy got Q his first scooter and he loves it.
Jeremy and I got Q a train table. He'd seen the box in the garage a few times and wanted to set it up right then, but we distracted him enough that he'd forgotten about it. Jeremy put it together while Q napped yesterday.
Jeremy putting on the final touches during nap time.
He LOVES it!!
We had to pry Q away from the table to get him to come upstairs for dinner. After dinner, we decided the yard needed to be watered, and since he got a couple different sprinklers for his birthday, we'd play with one of them and water the lawn at the same time.

It wasn't long before the neighbor kids came to check it out.

Finally it was time for bed. Quentin apparently didn't want to sleep in his bed yesterday. He'd taken his nap on the bear earlier in the day and then again before going to bed for the night. Jeremy had to move him to his bed once he finally fell asleep.
