A Day in the Life of the Turners: January..

Of course, I realize the month isn't over yet, but whats a couple days? Besides, we don't have much planned for this weekend anyway.

I like to keep the colder months pretty low key.. I don't want to have to cancel plans for weather or illness or just because I'm being too lazy.. which I tend to be when it's cold. So, if I don't plan anything, then I don't have to cancel anything. :) It works out well.

So far this month, despite not having much planned, I feel like a lot has happened.

Happy New Year!!! I had some plastic champaign glasses, so got some sparkling grape juice, and the boys toasted to the new year. They thought it was pretty cool to drink from those glasses.

We headed to mom and dads for some of Dad's pizza. Of course he made one JUST for Quentin. The pizza's were so good.. I might have ate too much.

We're deeming Cam our first ER (although our doctors office takes walk-ins first thing in the morning) visit - Jeremy was rounding up Ben and Cam to take to daycare one morning, and Cam fell - hit his head on the fireplace. I was already at work, and got a text with a picture of a gash.. It didn't look terrible, and asked a nurse I work with what she thought.. she said, take him in, if anything they'll put some glue on it, just so it doesn't get infected. So, thats just what Jeremy did.. once they got there, however, it had separated even more, and required 2 staples. Cam put up a good fight, but lost. He got them taken out on Monday, and he didn't even wince.. He just laid on Jeremy's shoulder and the doc did 2 yanks, and they were done. It looks a lot better now, but I'm not sure hair will ever grow on it.. Thankfully it wasn't a large area.

Quentin started basketball and absolutely LOVES it.. He's constantly asking if it's Saturday yet (the days he plays). He made a basket in his first game. They do some drills for the first 15 or so minutes, and then scrimmage the last 45 minutes.

After a month of on/off low grade fevers - I finally took Ben to the dr when it spiked to 101.6.. still not super high, but after a month, it wasn't going away. They found a slight ear infection.. which basically means, if I'd taken him any sooner, they wouldn't have seen it. So, we got some antibiotics and it was doing great! Good news, he didn't have an allergic reaction to penicilian like Cameron does.

That same day, Ben got his first haircut.. It was overdue.. my goal was to make it to 6 months.. we made it almost 7. It was just in his eyes so much, and if he had a running nose, he'd rub snot all over his face and hair.

Quentin was our photographer.. I held Ben, while Jeremy did the cutting.

Quentin got Bondurant's Best for the month of January.. Everyday they can earn a best ticket.. then there is a drawing at the end of the month with all the Best Tickets, and you get to pick from a big prize bucket if your name is drawn. He chose a bracelet.. I'm sure it was the best thing available. ha!

He was also the best student of the week.. I'm unsure whats behind that.. But, I'm guessing each kid gets it at some point during the year.

Jeremy is in charge of cutting all the kids nails.. I'm still amazed at how well they all sit and just let him do it.

Today, Ben and I were back to the Dr. He had spiked a fever at daycare on Tuesday, Jeremy stayed home with him yesterday and he was fine much of the day. When I got home from work, he kind of went down hill, and you could just tell he didn't feel well. His fever was back, his eyes were red and puffy and he was just irritable. I had tried not giving him any tylenol, but at midnight, when neither of us were sleeping, I gave it to him. He still woke up with a fever this morning, so off to the doctors we went. They found nothing.. just a virus.. I could feel him get cooler as we hung out in the standing room only waiting room at the doctors office. I'm sure if he didn't have anything before, he probably does now with all those sick kids. But, he's been fine this afternoon.

Q loves the Wii U.

Cam voluntarily wore underwear. .he's wore them once before, but they didn't last long. This time, he wanted to wear them, and even tried going potty on the potty.. Of course, nothing consistently. And, he's yet to go in the toilet. The underwear only last a couple hours.. then he wanted his diaper back. Since this was such a big step for him (he'd been afraid of the toilet before), I thought we'd let him go at his pace.. he's not even 3 yet.

really is a good dog.

We've had a few warm days.. and the kids have made it outside for a little bit before the sun goes down. I think we're back to normal colder temps for awhile now though.
