June 2017

I signed up to help coach Cameron's t-ball team. We were the Indians. I only got hit by a bat once. Cam only liked hitting. He trash talked players from the other teams while he was playing defense and often would stand on a base to block them from standing on it. One game, he yelled to Jeremy that the kid on his base picks his boogers! The kid yelled back that so did Cam. 😂😂

We met up with Bobbie and Dylan at the Omaha Zoo. It was a hot day, but we survived and had a ton of fun.

Hy-Vee was giving out free glazed donuts - Of course Ben wanted one.

We stayed cool by walking through water misters.

The new splash pad there is no joke! It was awesome - The kids LOVED it. Ben was a little hesitant, Dylan very sweetly took his hand and helped him along.

On our way out, there was a little baseball field. The kids liked pretending to hit home runs and running the bases.

Back at the hotel, we swam and took over the breakfast area to eat pizza.

Ben got a birthday card in the mail from Grandma GG - He was very excited!

I participated in Corporate bowling - and our co-ed team took home the silver - My 2nd game I bowled a 174.

We got the pool out - which the kids think is just awesome and ask EVERYDAY!!

We had KaVon's graduation party - It was at the southside Senior center. There isn't much for kids to do there, except run around.

These 2 are always up to something.. This time, it was shutting lights off.

The kids gained a cousin - Victory Jesus Ayala was born on June 10th. We didn't have time to make it up to the hospital to see him before he was able to go home. So we met him at a funeral for Uncle Fred a few days later. He's adorable!

We took all the kids to the funeral with us. They actually did pretty good considering. This, I believe, was their first funeral.  Uncle Fred was cremated and they asking when they would get to see Uncle Fred.  They enjoyed playing with their cousins that they don't get to see very often.

My co-worker Gerald and I did a mud run. It was a lot of fun, but not nearly enough mud.

Ben finally had his 3 year appointment. Of course, he's doing great. Checking in at 32.2# (52%) and 3ft 2 inches for height (65%). His BMI is 15.4 (this is ridiculous they even include this).

Happy Fathers day! We celebrated by going to Quentin's baseball game.

Quentin often got to play catcher and never once complained on the hot days. :)

Speaking of baseball, Rally days are always at the end of the season. It's basically a single elimination tournament for all the teams. Quentin's team was a 2 seed, having only lost 1 game during the regular season. The Royals made it to the championship game - and it was intense... especially for it being a bunch of 1st graders. I almost couldn't watch as we were going into the bottom of the 6th inning, down a couple runs. (we only play through 5 innings typically). Thankfully we were the home team, we were up to bat. Quentin understands baseball, but I don't think he understood what needed to be done to win. He didn't appear to feel any pressure or think this game was any different than the rest. We somehow managed to get on base. The ump called the runner safe, I was right by 1st base, and he was out by a long shot. But that hit and base runner was the start of a rally. The Royals end up scoring 3 runs to win the game. It was very exciting and I think they would have still won had that first out been called right.

Quentin was and still is very excited about his trophy.

This isn't Quentin, just a picture I snagged. ;)

I participated in corporate challenge kick ball with other co-workers. That ball was much harder to hit than I expected.  My right foot hurt so bad, I had to switch hit and I ended up with bruises on both legs and ankles.

Other pictures from the month...
