We rode the train from Coralville to the stadium. Quentin was scared at first. Once he was on and it was going he realized it wasn't bad at all. Cameron thought it was pretty cool. It rained off/on the whole game. Cameron wanted something from the concession stand every 10 minutes(surprisingly it wasn't too expensive). And there was a lady behind us that would yell the F word every chance she got. The train started back up at the beginning of the 4th quarter and by then we were wet, getting colder and ready to head back home. The game was a ton of fun even though they lost
Vera, Bobbie and Dylan came to our house after the game for the night. We went to Quentin's school playground in the morning.
Cameron finally had his 4 yr check up. I hate that you can't schedule these things a year in advance. Like I'm going to remember 3 months before his birthday that I need to schedule his yearly physical. He did great though. He weighed in at 33#(19%), 3'4"(34%) and his blood pressure was 93/52. He was worried about shots, but he doesn't need one of those until he goes into kindergarten.
Jeremy and I celebrated 11 yrs this year. Emily gave us a very generous gift card to Prairie Meadows hotel and casino a couple years ago, so we decided to finally use it. We gambled the night away.. haha. not really. We did plan it around the horse races though, so we could do that. I thought I had the winning horse all figured out by their weight.. I was wrong. We lost.
We ended the night watching the cubs at the hotel bar.
We went to the free pumpkin patch by our house. It's one of my favorites because it's small, but has enough to keep the kids running from one thing to the next, it's not busy, it's open on weekday, close to our house and did I mention it's free? New this year was an obstacle which Quentin loved.
We came home with a few small pumpkins, with Quentin's soccer schedule we were running out of time to actually carve any. So we went this route, and we were going to paint them, but that never happened either. They some how quickly became nerf bullet holders.
We had Quentin and Cameron's conferences. Quentin is doing really well. Reading at a beginner 2nd grade level and doing well in math. Cameron.. Well, Cameron is just at school because it's fun. I try really hard not to compare but, as you can see in the picture below, a lot of the kids have a much better understanding of things than Cameron does. His teacher, Mrs Angie, said he's so funny, she has a hard time disciplining him and just wants to keep him in her pocket all day long. He can identify about 9 letters.
Cameron went to the Giesler Farms pumpkin patch with his classmates. They encourage parents to come, but discourage other family members. So Jeremy got to spend the rainy cold day with Cam at the Patch.
This is Kendall covering Cam. Cameron says she's his girlfriend. They play at pre-school together and she lives a few doors down from us. Side note: all of last summer, he played with her on occasion. When school started, he said he was excited that his girlfriend went to school with him. And when I asked him who his girlfriend was, he didn't know her name, but described her so I knew exactly who he was talking about. He now knows her name.
We headed to Bass Pro shop for our annual halloween picture. Thankfully we live close enough that we can go on a week night and avoid all the people on the weekends. The kids love climbing on the ATV's.
Quentin played a lot of soccer this month. Here are just a few pictures.
| Team captain for the day |
So between the picture above, and the picture below, I have enough pictures to make a flip book to watch him take the ball from center field all the way to the goal. He was VERY excited and it was so fun to watch.
This picture is funny because Cameron came back from the concession stand with this icee thing. He had no money though. I asked how he got that, and he said he just walked up and they gave it to him. It sounded kind of sketchy. On the way back to the concession stand, I told Cameron he was going to have to give it back since he didn't pay for it. Right before we got there, he looked at me, and opened it.. I didn't even have a chance to stop him. As I'm approaching the window, I hear the kids talking and laughing about how they just gave this kid an icee and they didn't realize he hadn't paid. So I told them I was here to pay for it. Then I made Cameron share it with Ben.
Quentin with his friend Ethan.
Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday Aunt Emily(we celebrated in Nov)- Quentin's last soccer game was at 3pm, so we had to do that then hurry home to eat supper and get ready for Beggars night. We didn't really have time to eat much and the kids were too excited to eat anyway.
There's always a guy around the corner from us that gives hotdogs.. so Ben wanted one of those.
Ben stayed in the wagon most of the time. Quentin and Cameron had full pails and were ready to be done by 7, which was our goal. The cubs game started as 7. So we headed home, turned the game on in the garage and handed out our candy for the last hour.
Other random pictures from the month..
| It hasn't happened again. :( |
Cameron often asks me to take his picture on this rock.
I caught these 3 in the crib, Quentin is reading Brown Bear Brown Bear.. It's one of Ben's favorite books.
It was dress like a profession at school. I'm not sure what job Quentin was going for.. he gladly wore a nice shirt and tie.. Huge thanks to my teacher friend for taking his picture and sending it to me. (Jeremy is in charge of getting the kids ready in the morning, and he forgot to take his picture)
Lastly.. Our newest family picture at this point.. We did take family pictures earlier this month, but there is a hole post of those.
On to November!!
