Happy May Day!!

I love May Day, and probably have more fun with it than the kids. We made and delivered 25 baskets this year, which is a lot considering that only covers 9 houses.  At first, Quentin thought all the baskets were for him. After our doorbell rang a couple times, and he received a couple baskets, he agreed to give our baskets to his friends. We made it to the first house, and he didn't want to leave the basket. Finally, we moved on, and pushing the doorbells was far more fun than the baskets. It was so cold and windy, I ended up carrying Quentin from house to house. Carrying 30 pounds while running is a lot of work.

This past weekend, the weather was damn near perfect. Friday night, we walked to the only bar in town for dinner. It was our first time going, and I was hoping it'd be a closer version of Francies. Although, it's not quite that, it was still pretty good. The kids did great in the stroller for the mile there and back.

Saturday morning, Quentin and I went on an adventure to find a can redemption center. After about an hour, we finally found one in Ankeny. It was my first time ever going, and quite the interesting process. It was pretty noisy with the glass clanking, so Quentin was a little scared. Thankfully, they were pretty quick. It's definitely not a job I could do, as they didn't talk. They also didn't write anything down, so I'm guessing they weren't talking because they were trying to remember #'s in their head.

One lady took all my sacks to count and
sort.
We stuck around the house the rest of the day and got a lot done. Jeremy cleaned the garage and I spring cleaned the house. Huge thanks to Grandma Nancy for coming over, and helping watch the kiddo's.  It's nice to have an extra set of eyes and hands.

Lunch on the deck!

Cameron's eyes are still blue for the most part. There is a
thin brown ring around the pupil, so, I'm expecting them
to change soon.

Quentin likes to help make Cameron crawl and let him
get his toys.

Cameron is crawling all over the place.
Saturday night, we got the fire pit out and made smores. Quentin liked roasting marshmallows, but I think he only roasted them, so he could have more graham crackers and chocolate.

Sunday, was another perfect day. I think we spent all but 2 minutes outside.

Quentin and I made sidewalk paint and he thought it was fun, as did I. The mixture wasn't the greatest, it was a little more watery than I expected, but it still did the job. I'll have to find another recipe.

Jeremy and I had Monday off work, and decided to put together a raised garden bed. It's only 4x4, so obviously won't hold a ton of stuff, but thats not really the point. My goal is to just have fun with it, and teach Quentin where food comes from and teach both of us patience. We're also fortunate enough to have a community garden about 3 miles away. It looks rather large, so hopefully they'll have a wide variety of food.

Tada!
We haven't actually planted anything yet, since it's actually suppose to snow tomorrow and get into freezing temps (it's no wonder I have a cold from hell all of the sudden). It's a little depressing having the furnace back on after a few days of having the windows open.

A few random pictures -

Reading Good Night Moon!

I found this recycling truck on a swapping
website. Quentin is obsessed with garbage
trucks, so I knew I couldn't pass it up,
especially for only $1.

Quentin got this mask at daycare, and
wanted to wear it everywhere.

Showing Cameron his dance moves.
In other news - Quentin has been interested in going on the big boy potty for awhile now. And, would even go every now and then. but we couldn't get him to go consistently.  We tried motivating him with candy, toys, pretty much whatever he wanted, with no success. Apparently, he doesn't just want one thing for a treat. One time it was pop corn, the next time it was chips, etc. But, I'm happy to say, we have successfully completed day 2 of potty training.

We started Monday after daycare, and Quentin didn't have any accidents, and had fun going potty outside in the grass ( Hey, whatever works). Tuesday we sent him to daycare in big boy underwear and he had one accident the whole day. Today, he was accident free. Of course, he's in a pull up during nap time, and a diaper still at night, so we're not completely trained, but I'll take what I can get.

I enrolled boy boys in waterbabies at the Y, and we start that this weekend. Quentin has done it before, and loved it. Cameron loves the bath, so hoping he'll like waterbabies just as much.
